No. 1 Star: Vincent Trocheck, Florida Panthers

The forward notched two power-play goals and assisted on Reilly Smith’s power-play tally in the Panthers’ 4-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche. Not a bad night for 15:16 of ice time, and a big win for the Cats without Jaromir Jagr.

No. 2 Star: Jake Allen, St. Louis Blues

Allen stopped 26 shots from the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 2-0 win for the Blues, triumphing in a goalie duel with close friend Ben Bishop. Scott Gomez scored his first in the first period; Troy Brouwer had an empty-netter.

No. 3 Star: Jamie Benn, Dallas Stars

The Stars captain assisted on all three goals in a second-period rally, as Dallas topped the Anaheim Ducks, 4-3. That’s despite two minor penalties in that period. Wacky.

Honorable Mention: David Krejci scored twice and Tuukka Rask made 26 saves as the Boston Bruins rolled the Arizona Coyotes, 6-0. Jimmy Hayes had a goal and two assists. … Boone Jenner and Cam Atkinson scored 35 seconds apart in the third period, leading the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 3-1 win over the New Jersey Devils. Sergei Bobrvosky made 23 saves. … Zemgus Girgensons scored to end the 3-on-3 OT and give the Buffalo Sabres a win over the Philadelphia Flyers, but only after this amazing Chad Johnson save:

Another strong effort from Cam Ward, making 26 saves in the Carolina Hurricanes’ 3-1 win at the Detroit Red Wings. Eric Staal had the empty-net back-breaker. … Ryan Suter scored two goals and Charlie Coyle had the game-winner in the Minnesota Wild’s 4-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers. … Darnell Nurse scored his first NHL goal. … The Los Angeles Kings pushed their winning streak to six as they defeated the Winnipeg Jets, 4-1. Tyler Toffoli had a goal and an assist on Milan Lucic’s goal. Jonathan Quick made 24 saves. … The Vancouver Canucks handed the Montreal Canadiens their first loss of the season, 5-1. Jared McCann had two goals. Ryan Miller had 25 saves.

Did You Know? Montreal had trailed for 2:57 all season before the Canucks game.

Dishonorable Mention: Jaromir Jagr was injured in the first period after skating just 2:30. … Colorado was 0-for-5 on the power play and gave up three goals on three Florida power plays. Oh, and the Avs also gave up a shorthanded goal, too. … Kyle Chipchura and Max Domi were a minus-3. … John Scott and Steve Downie both received misconducts for their unique brand of malarkey. … Tyler Myers was a minus-4 and Blake Wheeler was a minus-3 for the Jets. ... Brandon Prust will be out for a bit with an ankle injury.
